The W. Hunt Harris House

One of the most beautiful nineteenth century houses in Key West, it was meticulously restored by its present owner over the course of four years. It is a "mixed bag" architecturally,---as are many houses in Key West--- with its high-peaked Gothic-style roof over a Classical Revival portico with four graciously arched bays. This impressive door treatment with is large double-paned glazing resembles the Italianate or Second Empire Style. The house was commandeered by the Navy during the Spanish -American War for use as office space, Key West being the staging area for the armed services in that conflict.
