The book contains a brief course in domestic architecture of the nineteenth century followed by a description of the various architectural styles represented by the nineteenth century houses in the historic district of Key West, Florida. There is also a section describing in detail the architecture and history of seventeen of the most prominent and interesting "great houses" in Key West.
The book is amply illustrated by 70 full-color photographs of typical and distinctive Key West homes.
